cARTographics: The Lake Twins

"We are referring to elements of ourselves, the way that we think and feel, which we believe operate as one."
On 23rd July I went to the opening of the latest exhibition at St Martin's Crypt Gallery: CARTOGRAPHICS, hosted by Annulus Art.

I was there to visit The Lake Twins, the gorgeous identical twin artists who are the models for my Art Deco Typography collection.
This is what they had to say about their work in an interview for Annulus Art:

"As identical twins we look for similarities and differences in what we encounter because it is how we are encountered socially. We explore drawing as a means of investigating the concept of comparison that we face as twins. We draw the male subject independently but use the same images so that when the drawings are bought together the details are observed with comparison. We therefore think of the process of drawing as a means of discovering how similar our perceptions are, to observe how closely we think and perceive the subject as twins."
CARTOGRAPHICS is an innovative exhibition where 8 artists have created 8 works based on the concept of maps and cartography. Each work has been entirely covered with Post-it notes by the artists and visitors to the exhibition may purchase one for £8. In this way the works are slowly revealed and the artists will then create a miniature piece on your Post-it which is mounted and sent to you. In this way, the exhibition intends to explore human and fiscal art economies.
"This is our aim, to create a new method of selling art. Making fine art more accessible to more people and building a new economy in which non-established artists have the chance of creating their work and earning a fair wage. To encourage people to participate and be apart of the creative process."

Exhibition runs until 17th August.
